This coin was made in 538-9 A.D. The emperor on it is Iustinian the 1st and it is called "Follis" which stands for the standart issue bronze coin of the Byzantine empire. The letter M on the back side signfies the value of the coin in greek numerals which is 40 nummi (1 follis=40 nummi). NIK is the mint mark of the coin, meaning that it was minted in Nicomedia. The A under the M signifies that it was produced in workshop A (greek numeral#1). Lastly ANNO XII means year 12, which was the byzantine date for 538-539 A.D. (since the byzantine year started on September 1st).
